Marca Hype Tevez To Real Madrid Link Empty Marca Hype Tevez To Real Madrid Link

The Spanish press are playing up Carlos Tevez's rumoured move to Real Madrid today, with Marca compiling a dossier of various segments of the saga, and how they play out in favour of the Spanish side...

Cristiano Ronaldo may have been target 'no 1' in the summer for the Spanish press, but it appears that this winter they are moving on to the more gruff look of Carlos Tevez.

The Argentine has been rumoured to be leaving Manchester United for a few weeks now, but flames have been fanned recently, most significantly by Marca, sparking a story into a saga.

The oft-criticised, and much lambasted, Spanish newspaper, is already public enemy 'numero uno' in the red half of Manchester, but they are bidding to make themselves even less popular today by running headlines about a transfer for Tevez.

Not only have they run headlines about the 'passiveness of Manchester United', but they have also declared that the forward is 'on the market', and 'wanting Real Madrid.'

Whilst many of these claims can be backed up by quotes from the player himself, who said just today that it would be a 'pleasure' to play for Real Madrid, there is no doubt that Marca are almost urging the player to come to the Spanish capital.

    Marca After Manchester

In a dossier that they have compiled today the newspaper start by printing various quotes from the Argentine, some of which are recent, some less so, but all of which convey the message that he wants to leave Manchester United.

They then go on to analyse factors in the deal, such as the fact that Real Madrid have spoken to Tevez, but that they haven't spoken to his owners yet. That minor point is brushed aside though with the news that Kia Joorabchian, owner of the company that owns the player, has apparently not denied that interest does exist from the Spanish side.

What is most notable is that whilst Marca decide to run the story as their headline news, most of the other Spanish news agencies have not covered it on their front page, and one has to look deeper to find stories about the Argentine.

Indeed, the only other main paper who has the story is AS, who quote the Argentine as saying 'I would love to play for Real Madrid', and pick through some of the better comments from the forward.

This point is symptomatic of the way that Marca, a Madrid based newspaper, is becoming part of the transfer deal for Real Madrid, and is almost orchestrating deals.

In the summer they so nearly unsettled Ronaldo enough for him to leave Old Trafford, and with the fresh smell of blood in the air, they are yet again on the prowl.

Whether or not they will be successful this time, we will have to wait and see, but what is for sure is that Real Madrid and Manchester United might be the fighters in the ring, Marca are trying their best to call all the shots.
