Arsenal are no longer interested in signing Torino's Angelo Ogbonna or Lazio defender Mobido Diakite according to their scout in Italy.

Reports earlier this week suggested the Gunners had table a €5.5 million bid for the Lazio man as well as make enquiries for the Granata defender. However, Tuttomercatoweb.com claims Arsenal were never interested in the defensive duo.

Tony Banfield, who works as Arsenal's chief scout in Italy, is quoted as saying: "Arsenal are not interested in Diakite and Ogbonna."

In addition, Banfield denied claims he will be in Rome this Sunday to watch Diakite in action when Lazio take on Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.

The very latest reports claim the north London club have retracted their interest in the defender after Lazio snubbed their offer for him.

It's unlikely Diakite will be leaving the Biancocelesti this term. The French defender has been outstanding for his side after making his return from a long injury lay-off. It is believed club president Claudio Lotito wants at least €10m before considering selling up.
