Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole could be out of action for two months after hobbling out of Wednesday's FA Cup clash with Southend United with a knee injury.
The 26-year-old was forced off the field after his leg bent awkwardly during the Blues' 4-1 victory in their third-round replay at Roots Hall, and there is a strong suspicion of ligament damage.
If scans scheduled for later today confirm those fears, Cole could be sidelined for up to eight weeks - and that could prove a huge blow for the London giants.
The former West Ham United star would miss the crunch trip to Liverpool on February 1, as well as both legs of the Champions League last 16 tie with Juventus on February 25 and March 10.
Furthermore, he would be ruled out of England's glamour friendly with the European Champions, Spain, which takes place in Sevilla on February 11.
In the meantime, Cole will definitely sit out Stoke City's visit to Stamford Bridge this weekend.
