Diego Forlan is confident that his side can grab a win against Barca this evening, but is not making any bets just yet...

Ahead of tonight's highly anticipated clash between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the Vicente Calderon, Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan spoke about his team's chances of progressing to the next round, as well as the shock absence of strike partner Kun Aguero.

"We must always respect Barca, they are a very good team and are in great form," he said, speaking on Andalucían football program Primer Toc, broadcast on Rac-1 last night.

Asked about Atleti's recent run of shaky form, Forlan stated, "It is natural to slip up, especially after playing many games in the league and Champions League, but we must regain our level as soon as possible."

As for the shock absence of Kun Aguero from the starting line-up tonight, Forlan had mixed feelings. "Barca are more nervy when Kun is playing, he is a very destabilising attacker and can change the game at any moment, but we have other players too.”

Florent Sinama Pongolle will replace Kun up front, and the Uruguayan forward was full of praise for his new partner. "He [Pongolle] is also a very good player who has an eye for goal, and has done very well when called upon."

The interviewer pressed the question as to whether Forlan was out for revenge after the 6-1 demolition at the Camp Nou, but the Atleti man said that the players have forgotten what happened, and that they are "only thinking of winning the first leg, to be in a comfortable position for the away tie."

Finally, Forlan analysed the situation of his compatriot, Martin Caceres, who will be responsible for marking him tonight.

"He [Caceres] is growing, and it is only natural for him not to play regularly, especially when he is surrounded by players of such a high level," he concluded.

Forlan will do his best to get on the score sheet tonight, as winning is clearly the top priority for him and his team-mates
