After scoring against Chelsea this afternoon, the Red Devils fiery striker can't wait for the next game...
Wayne Rooney wants Manchester United to surge to the top of the Premier League table and put some real pressure on the Red Devils' title rivals Liverpool and Chelsea.
The England forward found the net during United's majestic 3-0 drubbing of Chelsea at Old Trafford this afternoon, and now wants United to take that form into upcoming games against Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers. Wins over the two Lancashire rivals of United's will see them climb into top position in the Premier League table.
"It's down to us," Rooney told MUTV earlier. "If we win our two games we'll be top of the league.
"That might only last until Liverpool play Everton on the Monday but on Saturday night we want to look at the table and see ourselves at the top."
Rooney was also delighted that his team-mates had responded to Liverpool's disappointing draw at Stoke City with a performance and a result that took real advantage of the Merseysiders' slip-up.
"Today's win against Chelsea was very important. After watching Liverpool (draw 0-0 at Stoke) yesterday, we needed to take advantage and get the win today. We've done that now so come Saturday, if we do our job right and win our two games, then we'll be top," Rooney added.
