According to AS, Uruguayan youngster Luis Suarez has attracted the interest of Barcelona. The Ajax star has been quite impressive this campaign and has already scored ten league goals so far. Additionally, he set up ten more goals.
The former Groningen star is considered to be one of the Eredivisie’s best players and has been linked with a move away from Ajax on more than one occasion already. Suarez reportedly turned down an offer from Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg last summer.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Barcelona are willing to splash the cash on the Uruguayan international. Suarez’s current Ajax deal expires in 2012 and the Amsterdam side aren’t likely to allow another star player to leave the club after Klaas Jan Huntelaar’s transfer to Real Madrid.
Suarez’s family in law have already anticipated a possible transfer to the Spanish table-toppers though and recently moved to Barcelona.
Suarez started his professional career at Nacional and also played for Eredivisie side Groningen before joining Ajax in 2007. He also made several international appearances for Uruguay.
