The Nerazzurri’s eight-match Serie A winning streak came to an end as they were held by a brave Cagliari side. Goal.com rates the players on show…
INTER MILAN
Julio Cesar: 7.0- Was not tested at all in the first half but had to make two big saves from Cossu in the last ten minutes of the match.
Maxwell: 5.0- An uncharacteristically poor match from the usually reliable left back.
Cordoba: 6.0- The Colombian stalwart had a solid first half and was surprisingly substituted at the start of the second.
Samuel: 6.0- The tough-as-nails central defender sported a big bandage after a clash of heads but will be disappointed that he slipped at the vital moment, allowing Acquafresca to break clear through on goal and open the scoring.
Zanetti: 8.0- Filling in at right-back for the suspended Maicon, Inter’s ageless captain was simply sensational tonight.
Chivu: 6.0- The versatile Romanian played two different positions tonight and looked comfortable in the process.
Cambiasso: 6.5- Usually does a valiant job of protecting the back-four and tonight was no different.
Muntari: 6.0- Looked like he was going to be substituted after picking up an early knock but decided to tough it out and Inter were a better side for it.
Figo: 7.0- The Portuguese warhorse flourished in the trequartista role this evening and was sensational until being replaced by the disappointing Mancini.
Cruz: 5.0- Missed a free header in the 25th minute and things only got progressively worse for the man they call “El Jardinero.”
Ibrahimovic: 7.0- Guilty of squandering a couple of gilt-edged chances and seems to have a boatload of trouble converting straightforward, simple scoring opportunities; but to his credit scored the goal that rescued his team from an embarrassing home loss.
SUBS: Quaresma (46”) 6.5, Crespo (68”) 7.0, Mancini (68”) 5.0
CAGLIARI
Marchetti: 8.0- He kept his team in the match with a plethora of good saves and could not be faulted for Ibrahimovic’s goal.
Agostini: 6.0- Had no answers for Zanetti’s runs in the first half but bounced back to have a decent second 45 minutes.
Astori 6.5- Almost gifted Inter the first goal of the match when he gave the ball away to Cruz very cheaply but he settled down and did an admirable job.
Canini: 7.0- Made a vital intervention on Figo’s attempted give-and-go with Cambiasso in the second half, and will be proud of his performance tonight.
Pisano: 5.0- A very quiet match by his standards and never really managed to get into the swing of things tonight.
Conti: 6.0- Wore the captain’s armband this evening and the hardworking midfielder will be left black and blue after battling Muntari and Cambiasso all evening long.
Biondini: 6.0- Missed a glorious chance to put the match to bed in the 70th minute that will give him nightmares tonight.
Fini: 7.0- He was Cagliari’s creative force this evening as his precise through-ball set up Acquafresca’s goal.
Cossu: 7.0- The diminutive dynamo almost found the winner in the 79th and 83rd minutes, but Julio Cesar was up to the task.
Jeda: 6.0- Was anonymous for long stretches of the match but popped up to give the Inter back-line a little bit of trouble in the second half.
Acquafresca: 7.0- The on-loan striker punished the team that owns him with a cool finish in the 64th minute but missed an absolute sitter in the 82nd minute that will raise the ire of Serie A conspiracy theorists.
