Olympique de Marseille continue to monopolise the headlines as they continue their search for their illusive striker yet there has also been other action taking place in the transfer market today. Goal.com summarises…

It’s been another quiet day in the French transfer market as Olympique de Marseille remain in an apparent deadlock with several strikers. Progress is being made in terms of moving players on from the Provence club, with Gael Givet now reportedly courted by Newcastle United as well as Blackburn Rovers.

Surely it is only a matter of time before the French international defender moves on after being estranged by his current employers.

Another man likely to leave France this January is Le Mans goalkeeper Yohann Pelé (pictured), who has been included in the national squad previously. Portsmouth were initially linked with the goalkeeper, however their interest apparently cooled as David James appears to be staying put. Instead, l’Equipe report that it is Celtic of the Scottish Premier League who are likely to bid for the 26 year-old as their number one choice, Artur Boruc, appears set to move on.

Le Havre have made two positive moves by signing defensive players Florian Marange and Peter Franquart on loan from Girondins de Bordeaux and Lille OSC respectively. Both players are signed until the end of the season and les Ciel et Marines do not have an option to buy either when the deals terminate.

L’Equipe report that Inter Milan have been linked with a switch for heavily courted young midfielder Sofaine Feghouli of Grenoble; a man attracting admiring glances from many top clubs, including Manchester United. Any move for the teenager would not take place until next season.

The same source also suggests that Paris Saint-Germain youngster Younousse Sankharé, who narrowly missed out on a loan deal with Reims, will instead play the second half of the season with another Ligue 2 club, Vannes.

Nancy’s website reports that new signing Veigar Pall Gunnarsson, will only arrive for training in the east of France tomorrow, and will, therefore, probably miss their weekend fixture. Injury-prone forward Basile Camerling may be sent on loan to Ligue 2 outfit Clermont to get some much-needed match sharpness.
